Tonight there are fireworks at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla, but I doubt the baby will enjoy that. I doubt I'll enjoy the parking and finding a spot on the lawn if I have to come late because of my daughter's softball practice... Tomorrow, on the 4th, we have a party to attend. I won't know anybody 'cept the wife, her gay friend and the kids. At least we kept the nanny from tagging along by asking "So... what are YOU doing on July 4th?" ( She'll borrow a car and visit relatives in Connecticut ). There are fireworks up in Peekskill and probably every townm in between, but the golf course behind our house usually puts on a great show, so we might brave the moat and machine gun nests. Saturday I'll be home with a 14 year-old girl. I doubt I'll get her out of bed before noon, but I will give her the options of ( weather permitting ) taking the train down to Governor's Island to see Janis Ian or cleaning out the shed and finishing my closet... Sunday I'll be finishing the shed and cleaning out my closet.

Fireworks are tonight, and that always involves a picnic ritual with friends (yay!). Don't have much planned beyond that, but may go see Bonnie Raitt on Saturday (free concert!) and Sunday I'll likely cross the Cheddar Curtain to see Earth, Wind and Fire at Summerfest in Milwaukee. I know you're all jealous.

I would make an exception if someone took me on the East River in their yacht, but otherwise I think I'll stay local and hit the golf course. The best show was a 4th I was up in the tower in Toronto watching all the stateside shows across the lake. Maybe it was a Canada Day or something. Do they play with fireworks too? Oh, I saw fireworks from a plane once... I can't remember when. That was cool too... Just found out today's softball practice was canceled. I hope to leave work early and get this party started!!!
